“Trust I seek and I find in you, every day for us something new, open mind for a different view, and nothing else matters” lyrics from song “Nothing Else Matters” by Metallica

Today, we had the privilege of serving 30 people.
- It was a good day seeing our old friends and new friends. We ran into our new friend, Rob. When we asked him if he needed any help and asked his name he replied, “My name is Rob; it’s just my name not what I do”. We both laughed.
- We ran into (Ashley) still pushing herself in her wheelchair with her feet all bandaged up. We gave her our packet of $10 bill/$10 Dunkin Donuts card/prayer card. She left the hospital and treatment to be back on the street. We always hope when they go into the hospital or treatment, that brief break in lifestyle will get them thinking about a better way of life. In most cases this doesn’t happen. They go right back to street life.
- We still have not seen our friend (Jenny). It’s been almost two months since we last saw her. We did run into her brother (Gary) who has not seen her. Our friends sometimes are so wrapped up in their own issues and addictions, other people become invisible.
- We pulled up to (Lee) and (Bosch) on their favorite corner. (Lee) looked especially sad this morning. I asked what was troubling her and she replied that she was having issues at the shelter and was going to sleep outside tonight. Her face was all banged up and cut again. I kept hugging her and told her to go to L Street Mission and talk to Brother Rob.
- We were talking to our friends (Ronnie, Kathy, Shane). They were talking about one of their street friends who died in a tent right across from where we were standing. There were two other people in the text with him who left him there without calling for help. It is so sad that some of our friends become so immune to death and suffering. They become programmed to block out any pain or feelings.
- On a bright note (Shane) was offered a job. He and (Kathy) seem to be doing better since living with an angel who let them stay with them. When we speak to our friends, we are always trying to suggest the recovery path. Most of them have had some time in recovery and it seems that it is just a distant memory. We hope and pray that they take that first step to a better life by sharing our own journey with them.
God Bless,
