“Those He saves are His delight, Christ will hold me fast, precious in His holy sight” lyrics from “He Will Hold Me Fast” by Keith and Kristyn Getty

Today, we had the privilege of serving 34 people.
- There were a lot of our friends out this morning even with the cold weather. I stopped by L Street Mission this week and met with Brother Rob. I was amazed at all the great work they do with our friends on the street.
- We ran into some new friends also. (Kathleen) with tattoos on her knuckles and two black eyes. She told us she had to go to court on Monday and was really struggling. When we offered her our packet, some gloves and snacks she was overwhelmed. She asked if we came out here every Saturday. We told her we did. Liz hugged her and she started crying.
- We met another new friend who wanted to be called “Sandwich”. We thought, this is different, but then he told us his real name is Rueben…ah then we got it! He was quite the character. He kept asking for change not realizing the packet we gave him had a $10 bill/$10 DK card/prayer card. We pointed this out to him, and he became speechless for a second, only a second (lol).
- We were driving along and noticed a woman with a light blanket draped over her trying to keep warm. We pulled up and asked if she wanted a coat. She said, “yes please”. We gave her a nice coat, hat, gloves, sweatpants. When we gave her our packet of $10 bill/$10 DK card/prayer card, she started to jump up and down with joy.
- We ran into our friends (Kathy and Shane). We noticed how good (Kathy) looked and (Shane) showed us his hands and said look how clean they are. An angel opened up her home to them to stay with her during these cold nights. This allows them to use a shower and to have a warm bed to sleep in. It’s encouraging to know there are angels that show up in people’s lives like this woman. It reminds me of a conversation I had with a friend whose daughter has been in and out of jails and treatment. He asked me when do you lose hope? I replied, “as long as she is still alive there is hope”. Sometimes all our friends on the street need is hope – someone who is in their corner.
God Bless,
