“Out of nine lives I spent seven; now, how in the world do you get to heaven? Oh you don’t know the shape I’m in”. Lyrics from song, “The Shape I’m In” by The Band

Today, we had the privilege of serving 32 people.
- Sometimes it’s hard to find a positive doing street ministry. But then along comes new friends (Sarah) and (Angie) who told us, “I only ask God for help when I need it. Something told me to walk this way and I ran into you guys, thank you”. We were able to give Sarah a new coat, hat, gloves, socks, underwear, along with our packet of $10 bill/$10 DK card/prayer card. We gave (Angie) gloves, hat, underwear, socks and our packet. (Angie) wasn’t much for verbal conversation but her smile said it all.
- It seems that social media has blown up with the news about Tito freezing to death in his wheelchair. Everyone has an opinion on what the answer is, and then there are some people who actually step up and try to make a difference, like the supporters of this ministry.
- We ran into our friend (Sally) who we have not seen in a while. She had a friend (Terry) pushing her around in her wheelchair. She always says, “I’m living the dream” but is quick to say “not really”. She’s a veteran of the street with her visible cuts and scars. We fixed her and (Jerry) up with thermal shirts/pants, socks, gloves and our packet.
- With the single digit temperatures coming this week the shelter will most likely open earlier and let them stay in later in the morning for those who are lucky enough to get in. L Street Mission has always been a good friend to our friends of the street, serving meals and providing some clothing along with a place to get out of the cold for a bit.
- We met up with our friend (Jenny) who introduced us to her brother (Gary). I was glad to see him with her. It is not uncommon to see her walking the street alone talking to herself. She never asks for much; we have to pry it out of her what she needs. God bless her.
- Liz continues working with (John/Al) in her home town. (John) is so grateful; he showed her his purple heart medal and tells her she brought God back into his life.
“God saved me so I could try to save others, God healed me so I could try to heal others, God freed me so I could try to free others, God Loved me so I could Love others”. S.T.
God Bless,
Liz Londergan, Shaun Teed and Tito
