“The homeless seek more than a handout. They want and need our prayers.”

We had the privilege to serve 7 people. Believe the shelter let people stay in because of bitter cold.

  • Stopped by to see Harry and Laverne in their abandoned car. They were asking about Jim. Asked if they needed anything. Gave them our packet of $10 bill/$10 DK card and prayer card. Laverne needed some clothes. Gave her a coat/socks/sweater. She thanked us for our help.
  • Came upon Fred standing outside the DKs. Asked if he needed help. He did. Claire gave him gloves/hat/socks. I gave him our packet of $10 bill/$10 DK card and prayer card. He was very thankful. He said he was heading to library to stay warm.
  • Met with Chris and John. They were heading to methadone clinic. Asked if they needed any gloves/hat? They refused but were happy for our packet of $10 bill/$10 DK card and prayer card. John was asking how Jim was.
  • Came upon Russell pushing his wheel chair. Claire asked if he needed hat/gloves. He replied gloves because someone stole the ones we had given him a couple of weeks ago. He mentioned his fingers felt like they had frost bite. Gave him our packet of $10 bill/$10 DK card and prayer card.

To be asked to pray for the needs of those who are powerless and vulnerable is a truly humbling experience.
