“In a cold world how will it be? In the real world how will it be? In the lonely world how will it be? Will the ghosts just stop following me? Lyrics from song “Tears” by the Chameleons

Today, we had the privilege of serving 25 people.
- There are some Saturdays that are filled with hope and some with sadness. Today was a combination of both. We were happy to see (Shane, Lee, Leslie, Kathy, Jerry). They still had their tents set up. The city gave them another week to remove them. The Oreos are always in demand along with our packet of $10 bill/$10 DK card/prayer card.
- Claire gave out a lot of socks and tee shirts. In talking to (Shane and Kathy), they had been attending a non-denomination church and thinking about going into treatment. They felt that the church of their faith had shunned them because of their addictions. I told them there are different roads to God. A bad experience by one Catholic church does not reflect all of the Catholic faith. I was happy to hear they are thinking about giving treatment another try.
- While talking to Shane, he recalled a time when he was clean. He would watch a tree with its branches blowing in the wind and was amazed having never really paying attention to the beauty God created. I think sometimes our friends feel their lives are like those branches…blowing in the wind, losing their leaves, becoming bare and empty. But then, the sun shines through – God’s grace.
- We saw our friend (Lee) with a new cast on her arm after another fall. We told her we loved her.
- We met a new friend (Randy), a former marine sniper. I mentioned our son was also a marine. He was grateful for our packet and snacks. It’s sad to see someone who gave up their freedom to serve their country end up on the street. Hopefully his ghosts stop following him. Severe scars on his arms tell the story.
- On a sad note, our friend (Bosch) was visibly upset along with others, that our friend J.J. was in the hospital on life support. We can only hope and pray he makes it. We can feel their pain when they talk about him.
God Bless,
Claire and Shaun Teed and Tito
