Today, we had the privilege of serving 28 people.
- I got to thinking after some conversations with our friends on the street this morning. Talking with a new couple we found out we have mutual friends. At the end of the conversation (Kay) said, “please don’t tell our mutual friend where you saw us”. I realized again how living like this brings up a lot of shame. I read that shame is the absence of self-love. There is Christ who never stopped loving us. So going forward I will not mention their real names. I will put a name with ( ), indicating this is not their real name. For the most part I have not used real names.
- It was good to see (Lee) this morning. We had not seen her in a month. She had healing cuts on her face, but she loves seeing us. The Gatorade, snacks, socks, tee shirts and our packet of $10 bill/$10 DK card/prayer card are their one bright spot of the day. I told her We loved her and hugged her.
- The talk among our friends was finding new places to pitch their tents. With the couple of cool nights this week the focus changes to staying warm at night. In conversations we had, we mentioned “you don’t have to live like this”. But their addictions dictate their bad choices, making the unacceptable, acceptable. It’s a vicious cycle that can only be broken through surrender. These are very hard decisions that can only come with the help of divine power, our Lord and our God.
- We met new friends this morning who are so grateful for our packet of $10 bill/$10 DK card/prayer card, along with water, snacks, socks, tee shirts. One of our friends, when I asked if they wanted any snacks, was amazed when I opened the bag of goodies. (BP) asked, “where does this stuff come from? I said, “A lot of good people donate this stuff and support this ministry. They thank you; we thank you for all your love and support of “On the Street Ministry”. Jim is smiling down on all of us.
God Bless,
Claire and Shaun Teed
