“Those who oppress the poor revile their maker, but those who are kind to the needy, honor Him”. Proverbs14:31
“When you’re down and out, when you’re on the street, when evening falls so hard, I will comfort you” Lyrics from Bridge Over Troubled Waters by Simon and Garfunkel.
We had the privilege of serving 20 people today.
- We had to limit the number of friends we serve temporarily because of funds. We did get some generous donations last week by God’s angels which will help us continue. God is good. We met up with our friends who still opt to sleep in a tent especially with this weather turning, rather than go to the shelter. We gave out our packets of $10 bill/$10 DK card/prayer card. We decided to hand out rosary beads along with the snacks/water/Gatorade. These are a big hit; we tell them we are still praying for them.
- We pulled up to Angel pushing her overflowing shopping cart. She was upset about people stealing her stuff again. She was barefoot even though there were shoes on her cart. Sometimes we can become attached to things that have certain value that can’t be replaced. We gave her our packet with some snacks and rosary beads. We told her God loves her and we will pray for her
- We were sad to hear that Rachel was back on the street after being in the hospital. When our friends get separated from each other, the lure of the street calls them back. Our hope is that the little break from the street will get them thinking about a different lifestyle. We can only pray that they do.
- We met a new friend, H, who is an old friend of Jim and Terry. He explained how when he got an apartment andMy Brother’s Keeper helped to furnish it.
- We are so grateful for the recent donations through PayPal, checks and cash, along with the socks, tee shirts, and Dunkin Donuts cards that were dropped off at the Retreat House.
“I will sing unto the Lord, because he hath dealt bountifully with me”. Psalm 13:6
