Today, we had the privilege of serving 24 people.

  • It is always good to meet new friends and see old ones.  Our friends Jay, Annie, Tim, and Tony are on the move again.  Coyotes have been on the prowl around their tents.  They had all their possessions in shopping carts to move to their next spot.  The landscape is always changing with this type of lifestyle.
  • A friend donated a couple of pairs of Hey Dude shoes.  They were happy to have them; they made the comment “We could wear these if we go somewhere nice”.  But after that statement was made, I could see by their expressions that most likely that won’t happen living on the street.  The reality is unless they make a change, wearing these shoes somewhere nice won’t happen.  It was sad to see that look of dejection on their faces.  The only bright spot is the $10 bill/$10 DK card/prayer card, along with the tee shirts, socks, underwear, Gatorade and snacks.
  • We ran into our friends J.J., Mike and Bobby.  I asked about Bosch, and they said he’s back in the hospital after another seizure and fall.  I hugged J.J. and told him I loved him, and I pray for all of them.
  • We met up with Lane’ and Renee’.  Lane’ was wearing the rosary beads we gave her around her neck.  Our packet, along with women’s socks, underwear and tee shirts were a welcomed site.
  • We ran into Shane and Carrie.  They introduced us to a married couple new to the streets.  The husband mentioned he worked as a counselor at High Point Treatment Center.  We spoke about recovery.  I mentioned to him, “So now you are at the other end of the spectrum”.  Untreated addiction leaves most of our friends homeless and on the street.
  • We met a new friend, Autumn.  She was leaning on a chain link fence.  At first glance she was so frail and bent over with her belongings you might have mistaken her for a small piece of discarded trash on the side of the road.  She was skeptical of us until she saw our packet of $10 bill/$10 DK card/prayer card.  We gave her water, snacks, tee shirt.  God have mercy on her.

God Bless,

Claire and Shaun Teed
