“Save me O God, for the waters are come in unto my soul”. Psalm 69:1
“Can’t find my way home” song by Blind Faith
We had the privilege of serving 19 people today.
- We met up with our friends Angie, Jay, Tim, and Tony. We gave out our packets of $10 bill/$10 DK card/prayer card. We also gave them socks, tee shirts, underwear, raincoat, snacks, water and Gatorade. They are always so grateful for us doing God’s work. We still drop hints like “you don’t have to live like this”. Being it was Father’s Day weekend I didn’t ask if they had any children fearing it would be too painful to talk about. Being a father myself and watching our son Mike live this lifestyle was very painful.
- For brief moments, when we meet up with our new and old friends, we hope we bring them some type of joy. After we leave, we never know what the rest of their day might involve. The feelings of regret or remorse that may occupy their minds can only sometimes be silenced by alcohol or drugs but only temporarily.
- We were happy to come upon Lee who we hadn’t seen in 2 months. Her right eye was swollen shut with stitches on her eyebrow. When we asked what happened she replied she fell. We gave her a sweater and rosary beads and told her God loves her and we will continue to pray for her.
Life on the street requires you to accept the unacceptable. We are blessed to be able to do God’s work on these streets. Our hope is that they find their way home.
“I will sing unto the Lord, because he hath dealt bountifully with me”. Psalm 13:6
God bless,
