“And their tears are filling up their glasses, no expression, no expression, hide my head, I want to drown my sorrow, no tomorrow, no tomorrow” Lyrics from song “Mad World” by Tears for Fears

Temperature: 64° / Light rain
Today, we had the privilege of serving 9 people.
- We had to change the day to Friday this week. This caught our friends off guard, and we didn’t see most of them. The rain didn’t help.
- We ran into (Kathy and John) who were happy to see us. They told me the city wants their tent removed by Monday. We again talked about the fact that since winter is approaching, maybe it’s time to decide to make a move to a better life. We gave them our packet of $10 bill/$10 DK card/prayer card, snacks, hand wipes, hand sanitizer.
- As we were talking, two more friends came by. I was asking about (Jeannie). She’s usually walking downtown talking to herself. When we pull up to her, she smiles but never wants more than our packet and maybe a water. (Kathy) told me she suffered severe trauma when she was kidnapped and assaulted. Some of our friends’ wounds are not just physical but deeply psychological. When I saw her today, she was sitting on the sidewalk next to a bus stop, invisible to people walking by her
- We saw our friend (Kay) sleeping in a doorway. I pulled up and called her name and she was happy to see us. I was happy to see her since it had been a while.
- We went looking for some of our friends who we usually see on Saturday. We pulled up at an intersection and (Tony) was working the cars at the light, depending upon the generosity of people. I called him over to the car and gave him our packet. I asked where (Annie and Jay) were. He did not know. Sometimes when I see our friends my heart aches when I see the emptiness in their eyes. They say the eyes are the windows to our soul. God have mercy on our friends of the street.
“Lord, we do not know where we are going so how can we know the way? I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me”. John 14:5-6
God Bless,
