Gospel LK 10:38-42

Jesus entered a village
where a woman whose name was Martha welcomed him.
She had a sister named Mary
who sat beside the Lord at his feet listening to him speak.
Martha, burdened with much serving, came to him and said,
“Lord, do you not care
that my sister has left me by myself to do the serving?
Tell her to help me.”
The Lord said to her in reply,
“Martha, Martha, you are anxious and worried about many things.
There is need of only one thing.
Mary has chosen the better part
and it will not be taken from her.”
Reflection:
The Lord said to her in reply,
"Martha, Martha, you are anxious and worried about many things."
Like Martha, we all worry about "many things."
Imagine as we lovingly care for our elderly parent: doing their shopping, arranging for their meals, picking up their prescriptions, making sure their bills are paid, caring for their property.
And Mom or Dad say, "Please, sit down, relax, talk with me a bit."
But, we have become so busy doing "for them" that we do not have time to "spend with them."
We can also become so busy doing God's work that we don't have time to spend with God.
The Lord said to her in reply, "Mary has chosen the better part
and it will not be taken from her.”
Watching the hustle and bustle of our life, Jesus, like the elderly parent, patiently waits.
In our desire to serve God and people, we need to stop, sit, exhale and say, "Ahhhhh, It's good to be with you, Lord. I love you."
“Be still, and know that I am God!" - - Psalm 46: 10
